 AVG free edition is an antivirus/antispyware program that is free to download & use for non commercial use. I have used this program for years and found it to be a capable performer updating its self daily from the web. It is also on the Microsoft recommended list. Download here

You can open Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access documents created in Microsoft Office & choose to save them as an Open Office document or resave as Microsoft Office document.
